I’m sitting with Mineli and she says, look at that...and points to the sky. As I look, I don’t see anything. Just clouds. She says, look...look at the bird. I look again, still no bird. This continues for a while and I still don’t see any of the things she’s pointing to. Then she says look, a rainbow. Now I know for sure their aren’t any rainbows out right now and then I realize, that what she’s been pointing at and telling me to look at are the things she’s seeing in the clouds. Sure enough, there is a perfect rainbow in the clouds, the classic image of that rainbow arc coming out of a puffy cloud and ending in another. Wow...what an imagination kids have. Soon, Mineli starts to ask me what some of the different things are in the clouds. I come up with a few things, but sadly my imagination is no match for hers. I realize this is a hard game for me, and for her it doesn’t require much thought at all. She just sees. As I ask myself “why is that? Why can’t I see like she does?” she points to another and says whats that? I struggle with an answer and start to feel the pressure for taking too long with my response...all I can come up with is that’s a dinosaur head. She says, “nope, silly. That’s a rabbit.” I look again, sure enough...its a rabbit.
