Bubbles

One of the highlights of the week working in Nicaragua was simply playing with bubbles in the community we were working in. As soon as the volunteers got the bubbles out and started to show the kids, there was an instant high-pitched squeal that started to come out of all the children as they ran around crazily trying to pop the bubbles. Based on their reaction and that squeal that kids emit when they’re so excited they can’t contain themselves, I’m pretty sure they had never seen bubbles before! Imagine that, you’re 6, 7, 8 even 12 years old and you’ve never seen bubbles before. We had an incredible time and when the week started to come to an end the kids started to ask us how long we were going to be there. When asking these questions, one kid said “todos los días....every day” another shouted, “para siempre.....for every” and still another kids exclaimed “hasta el fin del mundo?...until the end of the world?” This little kid was hoping with all of his heart that we were going to be their until the end of the world. That alone is all I need to know to understand the impact Orphanage Outreach volunteers are having on the lives of these kids in the rural communities we work in.
