Another one of the great locations we've been working at in the Jaibon area is a small agricultural town known as Damajagua! Last week we put on an English Camp in a small church to the delight of the local children. We hosted a group called Breakaway that does training and workshops for service learning departments at universities and part of their group worked at Damajagua for the service portion of their trip. The little guy in this photo lived just down the street from the church where we held camp. He was hanging out without his pants, watching his family butcher a cows head to make stew. When you live in poverty, even the cow's head can be salvaged for the little meat that it has and I could tell by the look in the children's eyes as they watched their dad carve the head that it was quite the prize! They were all certainly looking forward to the tastey meal they would enjoy that evening and for the next several days. Soon enough, this kids found some pants and joined us for camp activities.
